How to submit your art to Whale & Bird UK

    Show us your quirky goodness!

We love to discover new artists, creators and designers and we are always on the lookout for exciting new people to work with, especially if you think your style would fit in with our brand. If you would be interested in working with us then we would love to hear from you!

Our main mission at Whale & Bird is to put a smile on everyone’s face. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we love a pun or two! But as long as your work has great personality and humour then send us your artwork and we would love to take a look.

Whale & Bird artist submissions are always open, we don’t have a cut off or deadline to feel free to get in touch with us at any time.

    Artist Submissions Guidelines

As we are predominantly a greetings card publisher we are always on the lookout for fun, bright and quirky illustrations and designs that will fit with our key greeting card occasions. Some of our main occasions include Valentines, Christmas and Birthday as well as the more unusual occasions like Coming Out, Passing Your Driving Test or just general good vibes. See our website for more occasion ideas.

If you haven't designed cards specifically before, we'd still love to see your work. As you can see from our website we do stock a range of other products such as notebooks, enamel pins and keyrings so if you think your art could translate well to these product ranges then get in touch!

All original artwork can be sent to us at submissions@whaleandbird.com.

And don’t worry, we aren’t asking for you to create brand new work that isn’t sold anywhere else. We just want to see your body of work / portfolio so we can see your style and personality.

When you submit your artwork, make sure to tell us a bit about yourself and the story behind your work. We want to get to know the artists themselves and why they do what they do.

We also really like to see a link to your Instagram, website or digital portfolio, so that we can get to know more about you and your business. Any artwork attached to the email as a JPEG or PDF file is also good! But please note that any ZIP, RAR or any other compressed files will not be opened.

Please also note that inclusivity is a big deal at Whale & Bird, so any art that incites hate, prejudice or discrimination will absolutely not be tolerated. If you are the type of artist who creates this work then ‘off you fuck!’

What happens when I’ve made an artist submission?

When we have received your email we will take a look at your work and your Instagram / website. Don’t forget that it is just Mary & Jamie behind the scenes at Whale & Bird (Nimbus used to help us with artwork but she’s too busy chasing mice in the garden…) so we may only get in touch with artists who are successful.

If we like what you do we will reach out to you and discuss how we can work together!

We look forward to hearing from you!
